Academic Training Pathways

The Academy of Medical Sciences National Mentoring and Outreach Scheme

The scheme is inclusive of anyone pursuing or wanting to pursue a clinical academic pathway of any kind. Therefore, the Academy is offering mentoring and outreach support to: MBPhD students, Academic Foundation Doctors, Academic Clinical Fellows, Clinical Training Fellows, Clinical Lecturers and Clinician Scientist Fellows (both pre and post CCT). This is not intended to be an exclusive list and the Academy is keen for those medics who are doing research, but who may not fall under one of the above categories to be included. Simply put, the Academy welcomes allclinical academics who feel that the various events and schemes on offer could be of benefit to them and there is a range of activities and initiatives offered to trainees at different stages of their academic career.

In addition, the Academy is keen to offer mentorship training to any senior academics (including Clinician Scientists and Clinical Lecturers) who currently provide or are interested in providing mentorship support to more junior clinical academics. The Academy's scheme is designed to compliment local provision and our regional events aim to support and respond to local need.
