Recruitment into Foundation
This section deals with recruitment to foundation programmes and is set out in three sections:
Appointments Process
There is a single UK-wide online application process for medical students to apply for foundation training. Details are on the FP website. The scheme usually starts in autumn (October) each year. Candidates must be eligible to apply for foundation training. UK medical students are automatically pre-registered on the process.
F1 into F2
Once appointed to a foundation programme, an F1 will normally be expected to progress, subject to satisfactory completion of F1, into an F2 year. In Yorkshire the F1 and F2 year posts are not linked and individual foundation schools administer a preference-based process to allocate to the F2 year.

Any vacancies at F1 or F2 level are advertised in the BMJ or on the NHS Jobs website.
