The two year programmes include an educationally approved F1 year then the F2 year with a dedicated 4 months placement based in an academic department, although it is hoped that the academic elements will “perfuse” the whole 2-year programme where feasible.
The intention is that trainees will have an academic as well as an educational supervisor. The academic supervisor will contact the trainee during F1 and the non-academic elements of F2.
Students who are applying for an academic programme should register for the national foundation recruitment process but, once appointed to an academic programme, should withdraw from that process. Leeds Medical School students should inform Janet Wilson at the Yorkshire Deanery janet wilson if they have achieved an academic programme.
