Placement Feedback Trainees in foundation programmes are required to complete a placement assessment feedback questionnaire online at PAF towards the end of each individual placement. This usually means that a trainee will complete three feedback forms per year for a 3 x 4 months programme. More can be completed if more than one specialty is covered in an individual placement. The feedback is confidential and trainees are encouraged to be honest about shortcomings or problems with training.
Trainees are asked to give their name on the PAF only so that receipt can be recorded. Names are not used when the feedback is analysed. Trainees should carefully complete the whole form before submitting. No acknowledgment of submission is given.
Trainees will be reminded to complete PAFs during the year.
The feedback is taken very seriously and goes to the Foundation School Directors and Foundation Training Programme Directors within each trust. Comments are amalgamated so that individual responses cannot be discerned. Currently feedback is provided annually, but since this time-lag does not allow for changes to be made quickly where issues arise, plans are in process to provide feedback more often.
