Foundation Training
Seeking Help
Each F1 doctor has a named identified Educational Supervisor who may, additionally, be their supervising consultant for some of their programme. In West and the North and East Yorkshire, the natural pathway for an F1 doctor in difficulty is to approach their supervising consultant, then the educational supervisor. If either of these pathways would be problematical, the local Foundation Training Programme Director (FTPD) should be approached. The Medical Education Centre at the trust will help in identifying and contacting the FTPD. If necessary, the FTPD will liaise with the Clinical Tutor (Director of Postgraduate Medical Education), Foundation School Director and/or the Yorkshire and the Humber Postgraduate Deanery, Leeds.
If an F1 doctor is reluctant, or unable, to apply for help through the trust network then the Administrative Officer for Foundation Training - Ms Jacqui Lewis - (at the Yorkshire and the Humber Postgraduate Deanery) should be able to assist or advise. An email, telephone call or letter may be all that is required. If not, then an appointment at a mutually convenient time can be made. If a doctor would prefer to speak about their difficulties with an external counsellor, there is a link below to the 'Take Time' service, which is also available to medical students.
