Foundation Training

Foundation training forms the first stage of postgraduate medical training. It spans two years and for logistical purposes is divided into Foundation 1 and 2 (F1 and F2).Foundation Training- the first stage of Postgraduate Medical Training

The Yorkshire Deanery works in close collaboration with the Foundation Schools to ensure foundation training is of the highest quality. There are two schools covering distinct geographical regions: the West Yorkshire and the North Yorkshire and East Coast Foundation Schools. Recruitment to Foundation Training is organised on a centralised national basis via the UK Foundation Programme Office. Details of the process are also given here.

Trainees are closely monitored throughout the programme. Several forms of Appraisal and Assessment are undertaken at various stages. In addition to and to ensure training is of a consistently high quality we ask for feedback from trainees working through the programme.
