Acute Medicine

Training Programmes

Information about applying for a specialty training post in Acute Medicine in the UK can be found here. Go to the Yorkshire Deanery Recruitment Site to find out how to make an application.

Once you are appointed to a specialty training post, you must enrol with the Joint Royal College of Physicians Training Board (JRCPTB). This can be done online at www.jrcptb.org.uk . You will then receive your official CCT date and information relating to your training portfolio.

For specialty trainees in Acute Medicine, there are two curricula which you should read and ensure you cover during your training. They are: the generic curriculum and the general internal medicine (acute) levels 1, 2 and 3 curriculum.

During each post, trainees should participate in work-based learning, formal training days, work-based assessments and the quality assurance process.

Full details of work-based assessments, including downloadable forms, what is required for your training portfolio (file) and annual review of competence progression (ARCP), can be found at on the JRCPTB website and also in the Gold Guide to Postgraduate Specialty Training in the UK. You can also read this letter from the JRCPTB which clarifies what work-based assessments are required for SpRs and StRs.
