Educational Programme
Most of your time will be spent as before in clinical work, but we are planning regular educational support as well. Most of this will be organised within your Trust, but you will also attend 4 (mandatory) regional training days per year. The first of these will expand on the use of the portfolio and other practicalities (see dates below), and will seek your own views on what aspects of training should be covered in this way.
Some Departments also have VTS trainees doing their hospital year. We have designed the framework of the educational programme to try and meet the needs of their different curriculum as well as your own
Regional Teaching for CMT Trainees
Please see the programme. As you know, you must attend one of these days. Please reserve an appropriate date in your diary after checking with your colleagues and rota. If you can't attend a day in your locality, it is quite acceptable to book an alternative.
Trainees are allocated to a training day which is e-mailed out to each trainee. If you cannot attend on the allocated date, please arrange a swap with a colleague and ensure Jean Wilson (for CMT East days) or Karen Bollard (for CMT West days) are informed of these swaps to ensure correct registers and certificates are produced on the day of training.
Acute Medicine e-Learning Programme
ACUMEN is an e-learning resource being developed by the Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians in association with the Department of Health and is part of the e-Learning for Healthcare (e-LfH) programme. ACUMEN aims to supply high quality, peer reviewed content which will be available at no cost to all trainees in CMT and acute medicine in the UK and will be based on realistic, interactive clinical scenarios.
