Following the onset of MMC in August 2007, where possible posts have been grouped into one of three areas within the Yorkshire Programme (Yorkshire East, West and Central) to allow doctors to be based in one principle area of Yorkshire. Rotation out of these areas may take place particularly in specialist fields such as Neonatology, Oncology etc. All neonatal placements are in large units which provide level 1 (BAPM) intensive care and which may offer a transport service for small or sick infants.

National Grid
In certain specialties, tertiary training opportunity is not available in every Region. To ensure equity of opportunity a number of these programmes (National Grid) are advertised nationally and interviewed centrally at the College. The Yorkshire Training Programme offers a number of these National Grid programmes, although they are not always available every year.

National Grid posts are generally advertised in the BMJ early in the new year for appointment in September of the same year. It is important to understand that Yorkshire National Grid posts are not necessarily available every year. It may be necessary for you to move Deanery if you are successful in applying to a National Grid post. Please check with the Regional Adviser whether a specific National Grid post is likely to be available in the Yorkshire Region.
