MSc Courses

ST4 to ST6 trainees will be expected to participate in the modular taught course for the MSc. Protected time will be arranged for one full day per week in university term time (currently Wednesday) to allow this. Trainees' study leave allowance will be used to meet the costs of the course. Completion of the taught course leads to a Postgraduate Diploma in Child Health. All candidates are encouraged to submit of a dissertation in their 3rd year (ST6) which may then lead to the award of the MSc. Degree. Successful completion of the first two years will result in a diploma. To obtain the full degree the 3rd year must be completed with the submission of a dissertation.

The year 3 dissertation ideally should be in the area of your interest and needs to be planned during year 2. A list of possible subjects is available via Natalie Ross or you can design your own project and ask an appropriate consultant to be your supervisor. All projects should aim for publication by the end of year 3.

If Specialist Trainees are unable to attend the MSc they must inform the course organiser as well as the Regional Adviser. ST4 to ST5 is considered a compulsory course and it is important to explained why you are unable to attend.
