Specialties

 

In light of the Tooke Review on Specialty Training recruitment in 2007, the MMC Programme Board have agreed to uncouple a number of specialties.  This means that all appointments to Level 1 and Level 2 will be to core training only and will be for a maximum appointment of 1 or 2 years.  The exception to this is psychiatry where appointments will be for a maximum of 3 years, dependent on entry level.  All appointments at ST3 and ST4 posts will be through open competition.

Core Medical Training (CMT)
Clinical Oncology
Emergency Medicine
ENT Surgery
General Surgery
Occupational Health Medicine
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Paediatric Surgery
Plastic Surgery
Psychiatry
Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery
Urology

 

Those specialites listed below will continue to offer run through training in 2008:

Clinical Radiology
General Practice
Histopathology
Medical Microbiology
Neurosurgery
Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Ophthalmology
Paediatrics and Child Health
Public Health
