Specialty Training
Out of Programme Experience
Absences from the Training Programme to undertake rsearch etc are approved by the Specialty Training Committee and the Postgraduate Dean. Information on the application process and requisite application forms can be downloaded below.
Please note that out of programme experience cannot be taken without approval from the Postgraduate Dean. The Postgraduate Dean requires six months notice of intention to leave the training scheme. It is SpR's responsibility to ensure that the appropriate approval has been granted and that the necessary action has been taken to remove details from the payroll whilst they are away. This will occur automatically if the correct procedure is followed. Any overpayments made as a result of non-notification of unpaid leave of absence will be recovered in full, without exception.
Changes to Approved Out of Programme Experience
Trainees who wish to extend or curtail approved periods of out of programme experience must obtain the formal approval of the Specialty Training Commitee and Postgraduate Dean.
Requests should be submitted on the appropriate application form and be made at least three months in advance of your currently approved end date.
For guidelines on changing approved periods out of programme experience and the application form please the list on the right.
